Elysian Holidays specialize in providing high quality holiday rental villas. They were amongst the first in the tourism sector to fully embrace the power of the Internet to deliver this service, and benefited from the early mover advantage, by acquiring hundreds of the best villas available all round the world.
Technical
Over the years the website evolved with all the problems that can accumulate. It spawned numerous separate and unconnected sites for the different destinations, the data base became inconsistent, and the navigation was a complete mess. On top of that, with lots of photos, the site was slow to respond. Meanwhile the internet holiday booking market had became extremely competitive, with top quality global sites such as Expedia on one side and low cost villa advertising sites on the other, and on site advertising becoming increasingly expensive.
Rebuilding the site was quite a challenge:-
- Design a new database
- Design a new graphical layout
- Design a new navigation system
- Restructure the old data and convert it into the new database structure
- Implement it into the live site
- Create an administration system that enabled the data to be updated quickly and easily by Elysian staff.
It is an elegant site that properly reflects the quality of the product. Now a visitor can quickly search the entire library of villas and filter them by price, location, facilities or any combination.
They can shortlist those villas that they like and share their shortlist with friends or family. They can view a summary and drill down to full details and a picture library of each Villa.
And because the site is written in DotNet and hosted on our server, it is very quick despite the graphical intensity of the pages.
