CARM has been in use within the carer management community for a long time now, firsty as a Microsoft Access database, keeping track of everything from names, ages, genders, ethnicitys of carers to arranging activity days and supplying medical care and support for them. It is a well used system.
But with technology moving towards 'the cloud' and away from individual systems, CARM has outgrown the MS Access system and has become a fully fledged website, but with this it has had to have some changes both structurally and security wise.
Technology
CARM started out life as a Microsoft Access database and has been installed in many carers centres in the UK for a long time.
CARM has recently taken the plunge to become entirely web based and needed to be designed and built again from the ground up.
Now running on the ASP.Net platform, CARM will hopefully become the standard system within carers centres.
It had to be designed from scratch using Photoshop. The task with this was that we wanted to make sure that CARM Online was better than the standard CARM system in every way, but to also be familiar to those centres who already use the CARM system.
After the design process was finished CARM Online had to be built, and using the latest technologies it has shaped up to be one of the best database systems that we have produced.
It has a very robust security system, which has to be a priority when handling sensitive confidential data, it is easy to use for the carers centres and it looks a whole lot better than the original MS Access database.
Other Features
Aswell as the main CARM Online site, we have constructed a 'brochure' style site, with details of how the CARM system works, FAQs, contact us and a free trial sign up form for potential clients.
There is also a CAMR Online Knowledgebase, which is a support forum for CARM Online users.
The idea of this knowledgebase is that it is firstly populated with answers to questions that we regularly receive regarding the CARM system/troubleshooting etc... but that it will also self-populate with a user forum community, responses to questions being posted to the knowledge base for everyone to see and much more.
