Denaploy Ltd - The Publishers partner in an Internet age.

The United Kingdom has a rich tradition of magazine publishing. In recent years it has become increasingly difficult For those magazines which are not in the top 200 titles to find shelf space from retailers .

www.newsstand.co.uk is the web site that we have created in order to sell subscriptions to over 2,000 titles of British magazines . The site has a loyal customer base and receives over a thousand visitors every day . Many of our customers are from overseas and they welcome the opportunity to buy a selection of their favourite magazines that they became accustomed to when living in England .

Thinking of a new web site?

For 1 Magazine alone
The standard magazine website starts from £3,000 plus VAT and includes the following features:-

  • A robust and simple content management system that enables you to manage the content of your site and ensure that it is always up to date.
  • The multilayer navigation system that you can build around for content you are providing
  • A built in subscription sales service.
  • Your own designers create a graphical ' skin' that reflects the character and style of your magazine which we will optimize and graft onto the web site.
  • The website is designed with search engines in mind to give you the best chance of being found on the Internet.

Typical content is likely to include :-

  • A description and pictures of the magazine
  • Forthcoming features
  • Examples stories with pictures
  • A contact us page

But since all this is entirely under your control, you will very quickly find special issues to feature on the web site .

For example :-

  • A vacancies page when you' re recruiting.
  • Guidelines for writers wishing to submit a story
  • Special anniversary edition's
  • Advertising rate card
  • Etc. etc.

While all of the above is built into the standard template this does not limit in any way the sites ability to grow and become more complex if you wish to deliver additional features via the Internet.

For Publishers with multiple magazine titles
A single website engine with all the features described above but driving multiple independent domains each with their own domain name, graphical identity, and content.

The standard cost is £3,000 plus £1,000 for each additional site after the first.

Technical support
The websites are hosted on our own server in a secure datacenter that provides a very fast and resilient connection to the Internet which achieved 100% network uptime last year.

 Backed up by:-

  • High specification web server with a low contention rate.
  • Running .Net services and MS SQL for fast delivery of web pages from the database
  • Email services which includes anti virus scanning and spam filtering and POP box redirects.
  • Comprehensive website statistics so you can monitor not only how many people are visiting your site, but where they come from, what search terms they used (if via a search engine), and where on the site they visited.
  • Nightly incremental backups and weekly full back ups of all data so that even if there was a catastrophic hardware failure, the worst that could happen is the loss of 24 hours of data.
  • Personalised email services to your own opt-in mailing lists run from the website to keep you in touch with your readers (no spamming).

We also provide full training and support on the effective use of the website engine.

Digital Archiving of your back issues The history of a magazine is held in the back issues and all the stories and pictures in those issues is a valuable resource.

In many instances this valuable resource is actually a substantial cost because it needs to be stored and looked after and actually produces no revenue.

Scanning the paper copy:
Denaploy has teamed up with Micromedia Ltd, a leading UK scanning company, to offer a specially tailored service for magazine archiving.

We can offer the following services:-

  • Create the archive copy of all of your magazines
    • High resolution copies for creating paper prints from file.
    • Low resolution copies for viewing on a computer
    • Page indexed within the pdf file.
    • Key word indexing of each article
  • Typical cost :- 25p per page

Ie For a monthly magazine with an average of 50 pages the cost of archiving one year is £150.00 + VAT (does not include transport costs).

Selling back copies
Once the magazines have been scanned you might want to start selling the back issues as an electronic file directly from you website. To do this the digital copies have to be held on a live server and you will want the content to be indexed in such a manner a visitor to the site can do a search for a specific article by key words.Price t.b.a.
