Projects / Bertie the Pirate

Business
Our client Treasure Island Toys contacted us as they wanted to give their customers and all other children on the web a resource where they can play fun games, download activity sheets, watch animations and much, much more.

We created the Bertie the Pirate website as a reponse to their brief.

The site also has a sister website called www.GeorginaTheBallerina.co.uk which hosts exactly the same content but skinned in a different colour to represent another of their popular characters and to appeal to young girls more.

Technical
The website is a simple HTML/CSS site, using a lightbox feature to open up each animation.

The Flash games were created by us also, featuring versions of games such as Hangman, Balloon Burst and Parachuting.

There are loads of downloadable/printable activity sheets for children to do and lots of computer desktop wallpapers, each created by us also.

The interesting part of this website is that we contacted Sussex Downs College regarding their students studying for a HND in Multimedia from the University of Brighton and got each student to create a Flash animation based on stories that we had given them.  This was then part of their course curriculum and counted towards their final grade.

Each student done a great job producing the animations, all of which can be seen on the website.

We also managed to get The Argus newspaper to run a story on it, so all of the students participating, the Sussex Downs College Multimedia course and Treasure Island Toys all got some exposure.
